You cannot put a price on a child’s future but there are ways to help a child succeed, without the breaking the budget. Developing a child’s cognitive skills is still at top of the list of importance to prepare a child for school this year. Your child can learn any subject with the cognitive skills working at peak performance. The basis for all learning is embodied in cognitive development, such as:
- attention and concentration
- processing speed
- long and short term memory
- visualization
- visual memory
- reasoning and problem solving skills
- eye-hand coordination
Trainers are available only in specific locations around the country and they are relatively expensive. Children that need help and therapy are often not within a reasonable driving distance of such locations. There is an alternative that will deliver the same results. Parents can follow easy to use cognitive training home kits and obtain the same dramatic and positive results. The best cognitive training is still one-on-one. Parents who read the material and follow the steps will have no trouble delivering the therapy to their child. The secret is in the method and the
Learning involves the ability to learn, understand, remember, recall, problem solve, and make use of acquired information. To learn any academic subject a child must have all these skills. To be lacking in any of these skills will make learning difficult and laborious. Therapy is the method or strategy used to deliver cognitive training. Progressive training targets a child’s weaknesses and delivers intense training to in the areas that are most needed. It also enhances strong areas as well, to make them even stronger. For example, a child may a strong memory but poor visual memory skills. Some children try to memorize everything when visual memory may be faster. Such as, looking a looking at a list of five capitals of the United States and trying to memorize them. Visual memory or seeing a mental picture of the list and recalling would give an extra advantage.
When tutored in a specific subject, a child will often catch up but soon fail again. This will repeat itself again and again until someone intervenes to stop the cycle. Oftentimes, children who continuously receive extra help loose confidence in their own abilities. They must lean on the help of others but are not able to learn on their own. It is a cycle of pain and frustration that seems to never end. The irony is that most children who have these problems usually have average or above average intelligence. Once a child is able to process information faster and more efficiently the problem disappears.
Parents and teachers can teach cognitive therapy and do it quite effectively with a structured plan and dedication to the task. In past years, there have been few easy to follow affordable programs for parents or teachers to use. However, that scenario has changed. There are excellent home kits and products for parents to use to develop their child’s ability to learn. Home therapy is a wonderful alternative to professional in office cognitive therapy and it delivers the same astounding results.
The training is not time consuming, just two or three one hour sessions a week can transform a child’s thinking patterns and performance at school, from failure to excellence. The benefit of training at home is that you have more flexibility with time and you save money. Home kits structure the plan for you and your only job is to dedicate yourself to follow the plan. They are available in economical download versions well as physical kits. Cognitive training is worth the time and effort and the benefits last a lifetime. The results will be evident in the improvement you see in grades and in your child’s confidence.
